Ingredients for a bundt cake pan

Baking time: 45 minutes

  • 250 g butter (room temperature)
  • 200 g sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 250 g all-purpose flour 
  • 1 package backing powder (about 15g)
  • 40 g baking cacao
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon clove powder
  • a dash of salt
  • a spoon of orange zest
  • 150 ml red wine (a strong red wine is recommended, for example a barrique wine)


Preheat the oven to 350°F (top and bottom heat). Grease the bundt cake pan and flour it. First, put the butter and sugar in a planetary and mix. Afterwards, incorporate one egg after the other to the butter. Now, add the flour, cocoa, baking powder, cinnamon, clove powder, salt and orange zest and mix the dough briefly. Then, add the red wine and blend everything into a smooth dough.

Put the dough in the bundt cake pan and spread it smoothly and evenly. Bake it for about 45 minutes. The cake can/should still be juicy inside. Let it cool down and, according to your taste, sprinkle some sugar or spread a red wine glaze on the top.
