The Kurpfalz axis is the first of three regional park routes that open up and link the landscapes of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, which crosses state borders.
The Kurpfalz axis links the history with the present of the region. Many communities along the route belonged to the former Palatinate, the Electoral Palatinate. Even if this is not true for all places along the route, the Electoral Palatinate period with its residences in Mannheim and Heidelberg shaped the entire metropolitan region.
