You can always choose to explore the German Wine Route on one of the many fascinating themed paths and loops. Some of the cycle and hiking routes even take in the entire Palatinate region... To cut straight through Germany’s largest market garden, take the Herb and Root Cycle Path (137 kilometres). The German Wine Route Cycle Path (97 kilometres) meanders through vineyards and wine-growing villages, connecting the German Wine Gate in Schweigen-Rechtenbach to the House of the German Wine Route in Bockenheim. Woodland and vineyards are the stars of the Palatinate Weinsteig Premium Pathway (172 kilometres), which passes fortress ruins, Hambach Castle and Villa Ludwigshöhe. And you can enjoy the earliest spring in Germany as you take in the stunning sea of pretty pink and white blossom along the Palatinate Almond Trail (100 kilometres). Contrast that with the active adventures on offer at the Palatinate Forest Mountain Bike Park.
In the Rhineland-Palatinate tour portal, you will find more hiking and biking tours in a map view. But you can also find excursion destinations, places to stop for refreshments and even accommodations near your selected tour. You can even put together your own tour on the map: Tour planner
The Rhineland-Palatinate Experience app is ideal for searching and finding your way around the area. It offers an "Around me" function that shows you exactly which paths, places to stop for refreshments and excursions are in your immediate vicinity.
